EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES OF

AMERICA.

LONDON.

June 23, 1938.

Dear Nigel,

I refer to our conversation yesterday afternoon

and to your personal letter of May 19th, No. F 5183/34/10,

regarding the monthly reports on the shipment of arms passing

through Hong Kong which you have most kindly arranged be

furnished to our State Department through the American Consul

General at Hong Kong. The State Department would be grateful

if it would be possible for the Hong Kong Government to include

in these returns more detailed information regarding the actual

quantity of arms, ammunition and implements of war contained

in the cases which make up the shipments passing through Hong

Kong.

I would appreciate it if this request might be

passed on to the appropriate authorities and if a suitable

request in the premises might be made of the Hong Kong

authorities.

Nigel B. Ronald, Esq.,

Foreign Office,

S.W.1.

Yours ever,

(Signed) HERSCHEL JOHITSON.
